Martha Lovejoy
Transition from Zimbabwe hut to California assisting others

In September she will talk to us about her transition from living in a mud hut in Zimbabwe to being a business woman in Santa Rosa providing living assistance to others.

Martha was born in a traditional village in Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe). She and her sisters and brothers were raised in a mud hut by their mother, a woman illiterate but wise. "Education is the key," Martha's mother told her children. Martha escaped the poverty and patriarchy of Zimbabwe through schooling, strength of will, and careful planning. After obtaining a nursing degree in Ireland, Martha made her way to America, where she fulfilled her dream of business ownership.
