Olga Murray, Author, Ted Talk Speaker and Founder
Nepal Youth Foundation

Olga is a Sausalito resident who’s lived in the Bay area since the mid 1950s, when she was a new law school graduate.  (brief bio: http://www.nepalyouthfoundation.org/about-us/board-of-directors/).

Touched by the soul-crushing poverty she witnessed while in Nepal and the tremendous impact of a handful of personal scholarships she’d made, Olga Murray founded the Nepal Youth Foundation in 1990. Since then, “Olga Mom,” as she’s known to thousands of Nepali childrenand NYF programs have transformed the lives of over 50,000 impoverished Nepali children by providing them what is every child’s birthright: vital healthcare, education and a safe environment.

Olga spends half the year in Sausalito, California, raising funds for NYF, and the other six months in Nepal overseeing NYF projects. She’s received a medal from the King of Nepal to honor her work with Nepali children and the Dalai Lama gave her the Unsung Heroes of Compassion Award. Maybe most of all, Olga found her calling when she 60 years old, and is still amazing and active – and turned 93 this month!
