Sara Matson, Development Director 

Sara joined Canal Alliance in September 2016 and oversees fundraising, grants management, marketing, communications, and volunteer engagement. With over 20 years of experience as a nonprofit development professional, Sara has dedicated her career to raising awareness and securing resources for organizations that provide health, education and human services for low-income communities. Prior to Canal Alliance, Sara worked at Glide Foundation, the Exploratorium, Habitat for Humanity San Francisco, Zen Hospice Project, and George Mark Children’s House. Sara is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Development Executives Roundtable. She holds a BS degree in Biology from Drake University and a BA in Art from the University of Iowa. Sara currently serves on the San Rafael 2040 General Planning Committee.
