Kids Cooking for Life

“Kids Cooking for Life classes are so popular, I had to turn away 15 kids today because your class was full.
Can you add more classes, please?” Anita asked me this last week. Anita, the Bay Area Community
Resources’ staff person in charge of the after school programs at Laurel Dell Elementary School, was
frustrated she couldn’t say “yes” to every excited child.
Help us say “yes” to Anita and Bay Area Community Resources (BACR) who, in conjunction with San
Rafael City Schools, has requested that our after school classes be offered at all Title I schools in San
Rafael, this coming spring semester.
Founded in 2009, in San Rafael, Kids Cooking for Life is a nonprofit organization that teaches nutrition and
inspires lifelong healthy cooking and eating habits through hands-on cooking classes for students from
low-income communities and those with special needs in Marin County.
Now celebrating our 10

th anniversary, Kids Cooking for Life (KCL) has grown from a start-up class of 12
students in Sausalito to reaching approximately 10,000 students and community members at schools,
youth organizations, farmer’s markets and hospital and community events throughout the San Francisco
Bay Area.
