On July 12th, club members welcomed Lise Pearlman, an author, former trial lawyer and judge who is the country’s leading expert on the 1968 Huey Newton death penalty trial. She discussed her most recent books, With Justice for Some: Politically Charged Criminal Trials in the Early 20th Century That Helped Shape Today’s America and Call Me Phaedra, the Life and Times of Movement Lawyer Fay Stender.
