Scarborough Twilight Rotary Club support our Veterans at the Tony Stacey Center in Scarborough

On April 2nd, 2014, Scarborough Twilight Club members donated $1000.00 in a joint local community project with members of the Willowdale Rotary club to fill an urgent need for our Veterans at The Tony Stacey Veterans Center on Lawson Road in Scarborough.

During the Ice storm in December 2013 the Tony Stacey center was without power for approximately five(5) days inflicting yet another hardship on our aging veterans. With only a small generator, the Legion on Lawson was severely affected  when the Toronto Hydro Company was unable to restore or protect their back power generator.

Rotarians in District 7070 decided that this was no way to treat our Veterans and they embarked on a $100,000.00 fund raising to replace the old generator and to provide the Tony Stacy Center with a new and modern back up power plant. This will ensure our Veterans will never spend another winter out in the cold or freezing in the center.

The additional $1000.00 from the Scarborough Twilight Rotary Club brings the total raised to $34,000.00 to the cause.
