Fundraiser opportunity with the Prior Lake Rotary's Lakefront Music Fest:  We (WSP/MH) rotary are seeking members to work this event for a shift either on Friday, July 8 or Saturday, July 9. If you volunteer for a 4 hour shift, we could earn $120 for our club coffers.  Please notify Colleen Watson or David Miller of your availability.  Thank you!  And you get into the Music Fest free!!!

Our club board has approved an exploratory committee to investigate the possibility of a merger between our club and the South St. Paul/Inver Grove Heights Rotary club.  Don McCall (dmccall@lls-cpas.com and Dave Hanson (dhanson1333@comcast.net) have volunteered to meet with SSP/IGH members to start the discussions.  Examples of issues to consider are meeting times, meeting places, club name, projects, dues, etc.. Please email your merger concerns and suggestions to either Don or Dave and feel free to join the committee if the spirit moves you!

Our speaker last week was J. Michael Orange.  He gave a very emotional presentation about his year (1969 to 1970) as a Marine in Vietnam and his ability to conquer 30 years of PTSD.  Michael has published two of his memoirs:  "Fire in the Hole: A Mortarman in Vietnam" & "EMBRACING THE GHOSTS: PTSD and the Vietnam Quagmire".  Proceeds from both books go to veterans' causes.  Michael also volunteers his singing talents at the MN Veteran's Home.  Thanks Michael for a very moving talk!

 

Our club members and friends served 205 meals last Tuesday and 203 meals on Thursday.  Well done all!  Enjoy the pictures.

Here's some of the stuff we did:

1 - Surpassed Rotary Foundation goal of $2,000

2 - Bob Gullick reported the Club made approximately $3100 from the rose sale

3 - We have approximately $6100 to spend and should have $12,000 when rose monies and dues are collected.

4 - We approved $500 donation to the Northern Dakota County Yellow Ribbon effort.

5 - We regretfully approved the resignation of Marv Karth

6 - We are researching meeting permanently at Copperfield in Mendota Heights

7 - Investigating doing Ethics Day again this year

8 - Approved $250 for dinner at Jack and Ginger's house on June 14th.  RSVP to Dave Hanson please.
