JANUARY 30th: Rotary Awareness Day at our State Capitol from our District 5960 governor Dayle Quigley.  Have coffee with Rotarian legislators.  Tour the capitol building.  Sit in on a real live session.  Have a box lunch!  Check https://rotarymidwest.org/aware for the schedule of events and registration. 

Our speaker last week was John Purves from Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards).  Camp RYLA is a 4 day leadership training camp for primarily high school sophomores and juniors.  The dates for this year are:  Arrive Friday  April 21 thru April 25th. The camp is held at the YMCA Camp outside of Hudson WI.  John was very emotional when talking about how students change for the better during camp.  Here are two benefits among many: Students gain exposure to issues and exchange ideas with thoughtful people through presentations and group activities; Explore behavioral strengths and how to interact with others.  John is also looking for Rotary volunteers for the camp.  Contact him at 612-269-0185.  Our club has sponsored two students a year in the past so there is no charge for the student.

Mark your calendars for July 14th and July 15th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.  We have a fundraising activity at the Prior Lake Music Fest.  Last year, working one night, our club earned $960.00.

Here's what we did at our January Board Meeting:

1 - Approved a $1500 donation to Neighbor's Inc's general fund.

2 - We have over $10,000 in the bank.

3 - Loaves and Fishes coming up at the end of January:  January 31st and February 2nd.

4 - David Miller is looking into other volunteer events for our club.

5 - There will be a Meet & Greet at the February 1st meeting at The Copperfield.

6 - Mark you calendars for July 14th and 15th.  It's the Prior Lake Music Fest where we can earn money for our club.

7 - We're going to do the Rotary Rose fundraiser in April.  Details finalized at February board meeting.

8 - Look for an Harvest Pack packing event the last week in March.
