From Rotarian Jon Smale's post to our club's facebook page:
Debbie and Sue from The Free Book Buggie stopped by on Wednesday. A van and a dream – that’s how The Free Book Buggie (TFBB) got started. Debbie, a passionate reader since childhood, set out to find a solution to a growing problem in our communities: lack of access to age-appropriate children’s books. One of the biggest questions she gets from kids get a book, "I get to keep this book?" their eyes just light up. Debbie and her friend Sue put their passion for giving children access to free books into action. Debbie is the mother of two adult children, two dogs, and has four grand puppies. She loves reading but has found herself gravitating towards reading children’s books these days.
Over 400,000 books, more than 60 cities, 300-plus partnerships, and many volunteers later, the original “Buggie” grew up and is now a repurposed shuttle bus, the new Free Book Buggie. Language books are some of her biggest needs. For more info click on the link below...
