President Don's Corner

As I look out my window here in Saint Paul on this April Fools Day, I am struck by the beauty of the morning and the irony of receiving 8.5 inches of snow on April Fools Day. After a bit of a lull in our Rotary Calendar, we have resumed a full complement of activities. Monday evening, 19 people joined us for a great time packing food at the Blackstack Brewery for Harvest Pack. Thank you, William! After getting snowed out twice earlier this winter, we finally made it to Neighbors Inc. Thank you Susan Schroeder and Cody Semo for hosting our meeting this past Wednesday. This coming Thursday, we are back serving meals for Loaves & Fishes. Remember to share our Club Moto, “Having Fun While Making a Difference”, with prospective members.

Our Club’s board met this past Tuesday and I am excited to report that Val Namen has volunteered to serve as co-president for the upcoming Rotary year. Yeah Val! The role of president is now half filled, and I (we) need to work on the essential task of filling the other half of the position.

Have you heard of Black Stack Brewery? I had never until Monday when The West St Paul/Mendota Heights Rotary Club, my mom and other guests joined in packing 4027 meals through Harvest Pack. Obviously, the owners of Black Stack Brewery are community conscious. Thank you for hosting this event. What a great place to have a beer and enjoy some friends. We did just that and made a few new ones. Check them out.

Prior Lake Music Fest fundraiser

Mark your calendars for July 14th and July 15th from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. We have a fundraising activity at the Prior Lake Music Fest. Last year, working one night, our club earned $960.00.

March 27, 2023 Board Meeting Highlights

Here's what we did at our March Board Meeting:

1 - We still have just under $7700 in the bank.

2 - We have a Meet & Greet April 5th at the Copperfield in Mendota Heights.

3 - Val Namen is using NextDoor to promote our Meet & Greets

4 - Loaves and Fishes is coming on April 6th.

5 - Mark you calendars for July 14th and 15th. It's the Prior Lake Music Fest where we can earn money for our club. And the advertising is already on TV.

6 - Val has volunteered to co-president for the 2023-2024 Rotary year. (BIG THANKS TO VAL)

7 - LIFT has replaced our district 5960 Fast for Hope. More to come.

8 - Donated $100 to Rotary International in memory of Mike Lethert.

Fundraising Ideas

The board is looking for creative fundraising ideas and a team to coordinate activities. Maybe we'll see a pickleball tournament next summer? Please contact any board member if you have some ideas. We will be meeting at St. Anne's Episcopal Church. The church is located at 2035 Charlton Road, Sunfish Lake, MN 55118. We will have an assortment of pastries available, as well as coffee. We have wonderful speakers so please plan on attending! Masks are now optional.
