We received an email this week from the construction progress at the Heartline Maternity Center in Haiti. They installed our mechanical donations (generator and inverter) which help them keep the lights on. Now they are remodeling...
Dear Bridget-
As is always the case on our quirky little island, things move slowly. It took six months for the upstairs classroom to be built. We needed the downstairs classroom to be in use until the upstairs was done -- that meant we had to wait to start adding the bathroom --- but I wanted to show you photos I just took this morning - the ground work for plumbing is underway and the walls are being built. This new bathroom will serve the four postpartum beds and be a HUGE improvement for the ladies as they recover from birth and rest here and bond with their babes --- where my daughter Hope is standing on the right side of the lower photo - that's the doorway into the post partum room and the second doorway you see left of that is the doorway into the bathroom.
It's gonna be so good!!!
Here's the truth: the contractor told us that he'd have this done by July 1st. I highly doubt he is correct -- because Haiti -- but I will send photos as it progresses!!!
With so much gratitude for your work to make this happen.
Tara
