Inclusive Playground District Grant
Our Board decided to submit another district matching grant application - this time for the Cottage Grove Inclusive Playground.  It is a playground intended to benefit children (and adults) of all ages, abilities and mobilities.  There will be something for everyone!  Our grant application is for the purchase of two zip lines which will come with chairs so that anyone can enjoy them, even if they can't stand up or can't hold a handle.  Here is a picture of what our funds would buy for the playground:

We will be contacting other Rotary Clubs to help contribute so that we can reach the goal of raising $21,000 for the purchase of these special and awesome zip lines.  If you are a member of another Rotary Club and are interesting in donating $500 (or more!) toward our grant application, please contact Kori Land at kland@levander.com.

2016 Rotary Literacy Award Announced
Rotarians realize that knowledge and skills gained through literacy are related to schools, libraries, media, social service agencies, and many other nodes and vectors, both formal and informal.  The West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Rotary Literacy Award is given to pay tribute to an individual, program or activity that has made a difference in some way. The 2016 West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Literacy Award will be awarded at our regular meeting on June 22, 2016.
Root Beer Floats
We served our famous free Root Beer Floats last Wed., as part of the City of WSP's Open House during WSP Days.  As you can see, we had great helpers!  Thanks to everyone who helped, or even just stopped by to make sure we had enough help! (the man in back is council member Pat Armon, who appreciated receiving his root beer float from someone other than the city attorney - he was afraid he was going to have to sign a waiver)
