Last Wednesday's Speaker - Jeff Molby

Another super speaker came to our club last Wednesday. Jeff Molby, from Caro Michigan, is crossing the USA by bicycle. He is stopping at Rotary clubs to inform audiences that the American Cancer Society (ACS) needs drivers to get people with cancer to their treatments. The pandemic cut the ACS drivers in half and they haven't recovered yet. So far Jeff has traveled 6314 miles from Michigan to Florida. He is heading toward the Upper Peninsula to meet his family and take the month of July off. Then he's off to Texas and the West Coast. So far he has visited over 50 Rotary Clubs and has spent only 10 nights in motels. Most of the time he's camping. From Rotarian Cody Semo: "An update for the group. My beautiful daughter Ella Mae was born on Saturday, June 8th. She was 7.9lbs and is perfect in every way. Her and mom are both healthy and going great." And from Cody's email out of office message "I'm thrilled to announce I'll be out of the office on parental leave until June 24th, soaking up all of life’s new adventures." Congratulations to Cody and his new family!

$10,000 Goal Set for Somerset All Inclusive Playgroud

Somerset Elementary in Mendota Heights has set a goal of $345,000 for their All Inclusive Playground. An anonymous donation of $200,000 has been received if construction would start this summer instead of 2025. Your Rotary board would like to help with a donation of $10,000. To start, we have pledged $2500 in current dollars available plus dollars raised from this summer's Prior Lake Music Fest. Here's what you can do if the spirit moves you. You can make a tax deductible donation to our club's 501c3 by giving monies to "West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Rotary Foundation". And tell Treasurer Bob Gullick you want the monies to go to the Somerset All Inclusive Playground. We can do this!

June 2024 Board Meeting Highlights

Here are some highlights from our June Board meeting:

1 - Our club is finishing our year at the end on June 30 with $600 in the bank! Thanks Bob Gullick!

2 - We have approved these amounts to spend:

a. $2500 from the club for Somerset all inclusive playground. $7500 has been collected.

b. $500 to the Rotary club of Forest Lake for an international water project.

c. $250 to the American Cancer Society (result of Wednesday, June 19 speaker - Jeff Molby)

3. - Next Loaves & Fishes is July 30th.

4 - We're going to do a MatterBox pack in July.

5 - Prior Lake Music Fest fundraiser is July 12th and 13th.

6 - Board is considering a wine/beer raffle on November 13th.

7 - July 10 will be the presidential hand off to Val Namen.

8 - Next board meeting is via zoom on July 16th at 7:30a.m. Notify Dave Hanson if you'd like to attend.

Rose sale coordinator found!

Rotarian Tom Atmore will coordinate our Rose Sale Fundraiser this Fall. Move information to follow! Thanks Tom! You are one of the best!

Something new to meetings

The board would like to have local businesses present a 3 minute introduction to their company at each meeting.

Please let Dave Hanson know if you have someone and he'll add them to the meeting schedule.

One 3 minute presentation at each meeting would be the goal.

We meet at 7:30 Wednesday mornings at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church located at 2035 Charlton Road, Sunfish Lake, MN 55118. Join us for a continental breakfast with good coffee followed by an engaging program. On even number months, we meet at 7:30a at the Copperfield restaurant in Mendota Heights. (e.g. first Wed in Aug)
