Holiday Gift Buying Opportunity
With Neighbors, Inc having filled their need for volunteer shoppers this holiday season, we are shifting our efforts this year to support the Mendota Heights Police Department’s partnership with the Community Action Partnership’s Gifts for Teens gift collection program.  We are looking for volunteer shoppers to purchase gifts such as those listed below.  If you would like to volunteer for this activity, please let President Don know by the end of the day on Monday, November 21, and he will let you know the amount of your shopping budget.  Gifts are being collected through December 10th.  Don’s email is dmccall@lss-cpas.com.
Some shopping ideas:  Bean bag chairs, skateboards, snowboards, blankets, mittens/scarves/hats, travel pillows, phone case and chargers, tie-dye kits, arts & crafts, LED lights, sporting goods, jewelry, hygiene items, cosmetics, music, movies, books, essential clothing items, room décor, games, electronics.
Last week's speaker
Our speaker last week was Sally Lorberbaum.  She kicked off her program with a story about her nephew's mother-in-law, Sheila Livingston.  Sheila believed in volunteering.  She came to the Twin Cities from Canada, and started volunteering with the Guthrie Theater.  Eventually positioning  a full time job there.  In her 50 years with the Guthrie, she made it a place to build community and belonging.  Try Googling Sheila Livingston.  Sally also talked about the MSP Airport Commission and her recent election to the Mendota Heights City Council.  Thanks for presenting to us Sally!
