Bring Candy to our regular meeting on Wed. (see #5)
If you are not helping with Ethics Day, make sure you attend our regular meeting on Wed. to hear about the fascinating speaker, the VP of Pocket Hercules.
Wed. is Ethics Day! It's not too late to be a table sponsor (it's only $100). Find the form here.
Thurs. is a Ghostly Tour of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, hosted by our own Colleen (Dr.) Watson. See details here.
The Great Halloween Get Together is Friday, Oct. 31 from 5:00-7:00 p.m.. The City of South St. Paul closes off a few blocks of Marie Avenue just for trick or treating and we hand out candy at a table to help promote our Club. Please bring bags of candy to the meetings so we can stock up for the 2,500 trick or treaters we expect on Halloween. You can help hand out candy at the event too - Costumes are optional but appreciated. It's a great bring-a-kid event because when you have a break, you can take them trick-or-treating!! BRING CANDY TO OUR MEETING THIS WEEK!
The Club will host an all-day ethics seminar on Wednesday, October 29 at Thompson Park. The program, for 60 formal and informal student leaders from Henry Sibley High School, is a partnership between the Club, the school, local businesses, and St. Thomas.
Please download the Ethics Table Sponsors Letter and invite area businesses to help make this event a success. It's not too late! Contact Kori at kland@levander.com if you want to sponsor a table. A special thanks to the sponsors who have stepped up so far:
In addition, we need Rotarians to help with Ethics Day, whether it is sitting with a table of kids or monitoring the table of snacks, we need to make sure the day runs smoothly. Please contact Bud if you can help that day. bshaver@wspmn.gov.
The Board approved a $2,500 donation to Henry Sibley's ALMAS Club to support its on-going needs and activities. ALMAS is a group made up of Anglos and Latinos with the goal if increasing the graduation rate of Latinos at the High School - and it's working! By getting these kids involved in positive outreach and volunteer activities they are seeing the benefits of staying in school and graduating so that they can make a good life for themselves. However, the Board requested that the ALMAS Club assist with our rose fundraiser in the spring and attend more of our Club meetings on a regular basis. After finding out about the financial support, Rob Hanson, the school's supervisor of the ALMAS Club sent the following note:
"Thanks so much for continuing to support ALMAS' work and progress. I am very enthused also with the idea of helping us "earn" more money to help us with further goals. Work ethic is a worthy goal for all of our youth."
So, when you see younger faces at our Club meetings, welcome them!
