Wow, wow wow!  This was a very good speaker last week.  Mary Maus Kosir is the Executive Director of the Concordia Language Villages.  The villages are language immersion training for children and adults.  Several languages are taught including:  Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Russian.  The villages are located on 900 acres near Bemidji, MN.  A good portion of their revenue comes from the Department of Defense.  Their mission statement from their annual report is "Inspiring Courageous Global Citizens since 1961".  Pictured with Mary (left) is Rotarian Susan Hommes. 

 

The board met on October 17th and here's some of the highlights:

1 - Discussed several funding requests:  Town Square TV, YMCA, and Somerset School inclusive playground.  Approved $500 for Two Rivers Student Council Harvest Pack event.

2 - Loaves and Fishes is October 31st and December 7th.

3 - Alan Ruvelson & Jennifer Giovinazzo will develop a membership recruitment and retention plan.

4 - David Miller and wife Vickie will host a club social on December 14th.  Bring a friend.

5 - We are going to request 4 or 5 families this year for Neighbor's Inc. Holiday Gift Program.  Gift wrapping at December 6th meeting.

6 - Because of Thanksgiving, November 22nd meeting has been moved to the Copperfield.

Our next board meeting is November 21st at 8:15a via zoom.  All are welcome to join.

The board would like to have a local businesses present a 3 minute introduction to their company at each meeting.

Please let Dave Hanson know if you get someone and he'll add to the schedule.

One 3 minute presentation at each meeting would be the goal.
