Last week's speakers
From Rotarian Jon Smale's post to our club's Facebook page:
Sarah Torres (Riverland Community Health) and Stacie O'Leary ( Two Rivers - Warrior Care), both stopped by on Wed to discuss the partnership of Riverland and Two Rivers High School. The two have combined forces to strengthen the bridge between health and education, because the strength of nation starts in the classroom.
Riverland Community Health is a nonprofit, community-based healthcare organization in Saint Paul, Minnesota, dedicated to providing accessible, high-quality, and culturally responsive care to all individuals, regardless of income or insurance status. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), it focuses on reducing barriers to care and improving health outcomes for underserved populations.
Warrior Care is an extension of Riverland Community Health through a partnership with Two Rivers Public Schools. It is a school-based health clinic located at Two Rivers High School that provides convenient, on-site care for students and staff.
Warrior Care offers services tailored to adolescents, including well-teen checkups, sports physicals, vaccinations, treatment for common illnesses, mental health counseling, and support for issues like nutrition and sexual health. By being located in the school, it reduces barriers such as transportation and missed class time while providing confidential, affordable care regardless of insurance status.
Together, Riverland Community Health and Warrior Care promote accessible, preventive, and community-centered healthcare, supporting both individuals and students in achieving better overall health and well-being.
