Our own Colleen Watson returned from her trip to the Galapagos Islands, where she went with her family, and came back to tell us all about her travels to the Islands. If you have not been to the Galapagos Islands yet, they absolutely need to be on your list! Located about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, this magical volcanic area is a total dream come true for anyone who loves wildlife and adventure.
One of the best parts, the animals here evolved without natural predators, so they are incredibly friendly and completely unfazed by humans. You can literally walk right alongside marine iguanas, giant tortoises, and adorable blue-footed boobies for the ultimate up-close encounter and pictures. And don’t forget about the red-footed boobies as well.
Beyond the wonderful wildlife, the islands look like something straight out of another world, featuring everything from vast lava fields to lush, vibrant highlands. Snorkeling here can be an absolute blast as well. You’ll get to swim right next to playful sea lions, penguins, and reef sharks. It’s a deeply moving, once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you completely inspired!

We meet at 7:30 Wednesday mornings at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church located at 2035 Charlton Road, Sunfish Lake, MN 55118. Join us for a continental breakfast with good coffee followed by an engaging program. On even number months, we meet at 7:30a at the Copperfield restaurant in Mendota Heights. (e.g. first Wed in Aug)
