Join us at the Copperfield restaurant (NE corner of Dodd Road & Hiway 62) for the meeting this week.  Club will provide the coffee starting at 7:10!  J. Michael Orange will tell us about his tour in Vietnam and his recovery from PTSD after returning home. 

Rotarians Peter Olson-Skog and Ben Kusch were our speakers last Wednesday.  Loaded with emotion from the previous day's Texas shooting, both speakers did a wonderful job presenting.  After brief personal histories, Peter gave us some of the exciting things happening in our school district.  Back are:  concerts; field trips; open houses; in person musicals; Llamas (had to be there!).  Community wide events are back:  track & field; regional, state, and national competitions including sports, debate, band, and robotics.  Peter also mentioned: opportunities for future career opportunities and a growing movement of giving and caring: Moreland Chalk Event & Kindness Tree.  Ben works with ISD 197, SSP, & ISD 199.  Ben talked about his efforts to help students with college readiness.  He does more for students by connecting them with different careers in military, art, business, home ec, and industry certifications (to name a few).   Students perform professional skill development, resume creation, and creative problem solving.  Students also have spring internships for juniors and seniors.  In Peter's history, he mentioned he had a part in the Star Wars movie "Episode 1: The Phantom Menace".  Guess which one is Peter?

Here's some of the stuff we did:

1 - Surpassed Rotary Foundation goal of $2,000

2 - Bob Gullick reported the Club made approximately $3100 from the rose sale

3 - We have approximately $6100 to spend and should have $12,000 when rose monies and dues are collected.

4 - We approved $500 donation to the Northern Dakota County Yellow Ribbon effort.

5 - We regretfully approved the resignation of Marv Karth

6 - We are researching meeting permanently at Copperfield in Mendota Heights

7 - Investigating doing Ethics Day again this year

8 - Approved $250 for dinner at Jack and Ginger's house on June 14th.  RSVP to Dave Hanson please.
