Oct. 28 - New Member Orientation. If you have not been oriented or need to be re-oriented, we offer appetizers, great conversation and a great opportunity to get to know each other better at Connie Roehrich's home. We disguise it as a Rotary 101 class, but it's really just a time for us to talk in more than 15-minute increments. It is for new and old members alike - in fact, the whole Club is welcome to attend! Click here for details and directions to Connie's house. Sign up sheet is forthcoming, just so we can get a head-count.
Oct. 31 from noon - 1 - Ghost Tour at the MIA. Colleen Watson (Dr. Watson) is offering a free guided tour of all the ghost hangouts at the MIA. Click here for more information.
Oct. 31 from 5-7 p.m. - Great Halloween Get Together. We hand out candy to 1,000 trick-or-treaters on Marie Avenue between 5th and 7th in SSP. I usually try to get the spot right by the free hotdogs at the corner of 7th/Marie. Please bring a bag of candy to our regular meetings so that we don't run out before every cute little costumed monster gets his/her treat. Here's a picture from a previous event:
Ethics Day is on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at Thompson Park in WSP. See the events calendar for details. The event is a day-long interactive training for 60 specially selected Henry Sibley High School juniors and seniors who are viewed by school administration and teachers as being leaders in the school. Leaders can take many forms - student council members, athletes, community service volunteers to student leaders who may appear to be headed down a more difficult path and taking others with them. All of these leaders are invited to attend our day of ethics training to try to encourage them to make wise decisions at school, at home, and for the rest of their lives. What do we do?
We do the training - our Rotarians lead the students through the ethics training
We have one Rotarian per table to help guide the discussion
We provide the food - breakfast, snacks and lunch
We pay for it - through sponsorships. At $100/table for 10 tables, we can pay for the event. So far our table sponsors are:
Don McCall, CPA
Edward Jones (John Murphy)
Mike Lethert/Terry Davern
Mike Lethert, CPA
Realty Executive Results, Marv Karth
St. Paul Voice, Tim Spitzack
The YMCA of WSP, Katie Lowe
Fast Signs of IGH, Bernadette MacKenzie
If you would like to sponsor a table or know someone else who does, see Bud. You are invited to attend the lunch to interact with the kids and tell them about your profession. There are many ways to help, so feel free to ask Bud, Kori or Colleen. We will plug you into some area of service. Here is a picture of last year's event...
