The Great Mississippi River Clean Up is an effort of the Mayors along the Mississippi River to clean up all the plastic pollution starting in our neck of the woods, way up here in MN so that it doesn't end up all the way down there in the Gulf of Mexico. On Saturday, May 10, we not only cleaned up the plastic pollution we saw, but we also logged it into a national database so that the researchers from the University of Georgia can look at the success (or failure) of the recent efforts to curb littering and reduce plastics in the environment.  Our people started at Crosby Farm in St. Paul and walked along the Mississippi River trail cleaning up, logging info and being part of something big! Way to go clean up crew!

We assign speaker duty to Club Members every year, starting on July 1 - June 30.  This is not new and it shouldn't be a surprise to you.  A group of 3-4 Rotarians are assigned to a month and are responsible for securing speakers for each Wed. morning meeting. I realize this is hard. I realize it's not that much fun to get a speaker in a box.  However, we need everyone to find interesting, educational and inspirational speakers. Please, when your turn comes up, do your part. Work with your group. Find a speaker. Let me and William know the speaker and topic.  Hopefully soon we can be live and in person at Southview and it will all feel more meaningful and real, but for now, let's do what we can to keep the spark alive.  When you see your name on the list, find a speaker. Please.
