Jim Plucker stopped by to talk about The Poultry Institute.org.
In rural Nicaragua, poverty is not caused by a lack of effort. It is caused by a lack of access — to capital, to training, to structured opportunity. The Poultry Institute (TPI) exists to close that gap. They equip families in Las Brisas, Nicaragua near Somoto, to build profitable poultry enterprises they own — enterprises that generate income, stability, and hope. With a successful outcome resulting in building family businesses, restoring dignity and creating generational impact for years to come.
A model that multiplies, TPI offers a clear and scalable path to impact. This is not a donation. Initial funding supports training and startup costs, while repayment allows those same resources to be reinvested in new families. The result is a multiplying effect—one community helping the next build a more stable future. They offer practice tools for change by equipping missionaries and local leaders with a proven, field-tested model for building small poultry enterprises. Designed for hot, resource-limited environments for families to help generate income and food security where it’s needed most. They walk alongside families as they learn to raise broilers, manage cash flow, and track key performance measures. With local trainers and structured guidance, communities gain the confidence and skills to operate sustainable businesses that grow over time.

We meet at 7:30 Wednesday mornings at Saint Anne’s Episcopal Church located at 2035 Charlton Road, Sunfish Lake, MN 55118. Join us for a continental breakfast with good coffee followed by an engaging program. On even number months, we meet at 7:30a at the Copperfield restaurant in Mendota Heights.
