Bring in your old eyeglasses
Recently, we approved a $1,500 donation to VOSH, an organization that provides free optometry services in Mexico, Nepal and Paraguay.  We are collecting your old, used, unnecessary, outdated and taking-up-space-in-the-drawer eyeglasses for VOSH to take on upcoming mission trips so use your new glasses to find your old glasses and bring them to our meetings. VOSH can test your old glasses to find out the exact prescription and regardless of the style or shape they are in, they will match them up with the perfect recipient in one of these countries.  How great is that?!  They are speaking at our Club on January 20 and we can give them the donations at the meeting.

Neighbor's Inc. Inventory
Sat., January 23 is our annual Inventory day at Neighbor's Inc. in SSP.  We count boxes of food, cans of food, bags of food, whatever they ask us to count.  We need as many fingers and toes as you can find.  Please feel free to bring a spouse, bring a child, bring a friend! If you want to meet for coffee at Black Sheep Coffee at 705 Southview Blvd in SSP before the counting begins, that would be fun too! Check out the Events calendar for all the details.

Volunteers
If you're feeling the itch to become a more active member of the Club, taking the lead on a fundraising event, organizing a dinner, celebration or committee, then we have many opportunities for you!
  1. Rotary Board: Soon-to-be-President Johanna will be selecting her Board members in the very near future.  If you are interested in serving contact Johanna!
  2. Moonstruck Chair:  Our biggest fundraiser of the year needs a leader.  The bonus is that as Chair, you may designate half of the proceeds to the charity of your choice!  That's a huge opportunity for you to make a different in an organization about which you feel strongly. Interested parties should submit a letter to President Scott indicating their interest and naming their charity.
  3. Rotary Rose Chair:  If you would like to chair this super-easy and quick fundraiser, contact President Scott. Deliveries are made in April so this is coming up soon.
Speaker Assignments
Just a friendly reminder to check the Speaker Assignment list to see when it is your turn to find speakers.  When you have a speaker, just email me with the name of the speakers or organization, the topic and any technological needs.  Remember that you are grouped with a team of Rotarians for your month so you are not burdened with finding speakers all by yourself! A helpful list of potential speakers can be found on the aptly named "Potential Speakers" link. (in case you hadn't figured it out, this is a hint for the Feb. and Mar. Rotarians who have not yet informed me about upcoming speakers)  If you're not on the Speaker Assignment list, count your blessings.  You will be next time.
