Al Zdrazil came from the St. Paul Rotary and talked to us about human trafficking. Sex and labor trafficking is happening locally. This is conducted on-line and in person. The most people at risk are runaways, immigrants, poor, people of abuse, and trauma. Human trafficking is happening in all countries! Why is it happening: greed; power by perpetrator; product doesn't go away; demand by buyer; vulnerability of victims; we haven’t stopped it! Three things we can do: 1) develop an action plan; 2) pick something to do (don't have to do everything); 3) organize a small team. Al showed a very moving video of a person that had been a victim of trafficking. Here are some of the reason the video subject got into human trafficking: low self esteem; wanted to be loved; molested by the godfather; tired of being an object; after awhile hit rock bottom; nothing was positive. Our district, 5960, has a team to help. For more information, check out this link: https://www.rotary5960.org/rotary-working-to-end-human-trafficking/ Why is Rotary involved? We have almost eliminated polio, we can help to eliminate human trafficking! Thanks Al for coming to talk to us! You're were very informative! Pictured with Al (left) is Rotarian Alan Ruvelson:
