Rotary Roses delivery day is Wed., April 25. The order are available now! Jackie, along with help from Pete, is this week's chair so contact Jackie if you need the forms. It's really quite simple, really, you tell people they need to buy roses for $15/dozen and you'll deliver them. It's an easy sell! And if that's not enough to convince them, show them this picture!
The District Conference "Conference of Clubs 2018" is coming to Mystic Lake April 19-20. The event will kick off on Thursday night and then have all-day programs and speakers on Friday. It's a great way to connect to other Rotary Clubs, hear really motivating speakers and find new ideas on attracting new members, fundraising events and more! The Club will pay your registration fee so there's really no reason not to go (just let Pres. Dave know you're interested so he can tell Bob so Bob can write the check - otherwise Bob gets miffed, especially during tax season. He's a bit testy)! Go to the District Website www.rotary5960.org and click on the Events tab for more information.
The St. Paul Sunrise Rotary Club, in cooperation with the Minneapolis City of Lakes and Woodbury Clubs, is sponsoring the 13th Annual Community Forum "Beyond the Political Polarization: Finding Common Ground for the Common Good" on Thursday, April 12 from 7:15-9:15 a.m. at the Town and Country Club in St. Paul. These community forum programs have been fantastic and are highly recommended by Alan from our Club. Click this link if you are interested in attending: LINK.
We had a Board meeting last week and here's what we did:
Agreed to a proposal from Southview to increase our cost/meal by $.30. Not a big deal, but they were getting cranky that they have not increased our meal rate in about 10 years. Price will then go up automatically in Jan. each year by 3% so we won't have to revisit this issue again for a long time. By the way, Southview does not charge us for the room, for those who just drink coffee, for those who don't eat, etc., so we think it's fair. Plus, they give us great service.
Accepted the resignations of Scott Burger and Jon Sampson, who are transferring to the SSP/IGH Rotary Club. We will be having a real discussion about some things they raised in their "exit" interviews that we think will help us grow and become an even more wonderful club than we already are!
You know how Dave says to our speakers "We will plant a tree in your honor in one of our parks" ?? Well, WE MEAN IT! As part of Dodge Nature Center's Arbor Day Event, we will be planting trees (maybe not ONE tree per speaker, but close!) at the Dodge Nature Center on Tuesday, Apr. 24, from 5:30 - 8:00ish. It's an EVENT, including a dinner, so please see the Events Calendar for details. Please come - no shovels needed!
