Shoreview Rotarian Don Martin was our speaker last Wednesday.  He told us about an almost funded international project they have going on in Liberia. The project is going to provide hearing equipment and train hearing professionals.  Local company Starkey and a battery company are donating the hearing equipment.  24 local rotary clubs have contributed to the $60,000 project amount.  They are about $800 short.  Don has been a Rotarian for 2 years and plans to fly to Liberia in February!  Thanks for presenting, Don!

Rotarian Cody Semo (left) received a $1,000 check from our club for Neighbor's Inc.  The check was presented by Rotarian David Miller!  Isn't it fun to give away money???  BTW, Cody also mentioned that Neighbor's Inc. is in need of peanut butter!

Our board gave $500 to this fine organization.  In a letter from them to Susan:  "On behalf of Engineers Without Borders-UMN, we want to express our deepest gratitude to you and the West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Rotary for your generous support of our Simajuleu project in Guatemala. Your contribution is helping us make meaningful strides toward improving access to clean drinking water for the 3,500 residents of this community"  The group will keep us posted on progress at they go forward. 

Some of our club members were at the MLK day at Two Rivers HS.  Jim Probst from the South Robert Street Business Association (which sponsored the event) told me that over 400 were counted.  This was a service event with lots of projects.  Alan Page was the keynote and talked about his children's books and the Page Foundation.  The 5th book was released this month.  You can get the books on Amazon, however, getting from the foundation puts 100% profit into scholarships!  Since 1988, the Foundation has given scholarships to 8500 college students and over $17,000,000 in grants.  As a recipient, the scholar needs to perform 50 hours of education service time per year to others. 4 - Considering a Rose Sale fundraiser on June 3, 2025.

5- Recommending everyone try and attend the Prior Lake Music Festival on July 11 or 12th.  It's good easy fundraiser!

6 - Lonnie Stormo is the incoming District 5960 district governor.

7 - April 25-29 is Camp RYLA.

8 - Next board meeting is via zoom on Feb 18 at 7:30a.m. Notify Dave Hanson if you'd like to attend.

Prez Val Namen and David Miller are heading up our club's Fundraising Committee.  Please let them know if you have any fundraising ideas and/or would like to join their committee!

The board would like to have local businesses present a 3 minute introduction to their company at each meeting.

Please let Dave Hanson know if you have someone and he'll add them to the meeting schedule.

One 3 minute presentation at each meeting would be the goal.
