I must confess, I do not always read the monthly Rotary magazine, but the current August issue has two articles I encourage all club members to read. Open the magazine and go to page 1 and read the column from our Rotary International president, Jennifer Jones – It starts with an invitation.  We each have our stories of how we joined Rotary, and I suspect in nearly all cases, our membership started with an invitation come to a meeting.  In my case, when our club was being formed, my largest client suggested I consider joining Rotary, and when your largest client suggests you do something your say “Yes Sir”, and you join Rotary.  30 plus years ago, it started with an invitation.  Most of us are not in a position where we can “command” someone to join Rotary, but we can all invite someone to a meeting.

 

The second article I commend for your reading can be found on page 46 which discusses why people join Rotary, why they stay, and why they leave.  As most of you know, I have an affinity for numbers, and we can learn a lot from the numbers contained in this article.  Happy reading.
