Moonstruck Chair Selected & Other Board Actions
Congratulations to Mary McDougall who has been selected to Chair this year's Moonstruck!  Mary has chosen Vision Loss Resources as the beneficiary of a portion of the proceeds from the event.  The Board heard her presentation at the Board meeting, which will include a more interactive approach to Moonstruck, with unique but fun "vision loss" experiences at  the holes for golfers, significantly increased donor opportunities and a potential restructuring of the sponsorship levels.  The Board unanimously voted to approve her proposal!  Congratulations to Mary and we look forward to a very successful fundraiser!

In other Board action...
  • We will offer to partner with ALMAS for the sale of Rotary Roses, giving them the ability to buy the roses from us at a set price and then sell them in whatever quantities and for whatever price they want - keeping all of the proceeds for themselves!
  • We heard an update from Heartline, our remodeling project of the maternity center in Haiti.  The kitchen is being remodeled at the end of March and the equipment that we "purchased" for them is on-site and ready to be installed.
  • Continued a $1,000 request from the Boy Scouts to gather more details.
Rotary Roses: Continue taking Orders!
Continue taking your Rotary Rose orders! Remember that our delivery date is NOT on Administrative Assistant's Day.  (too close to Mother's Day) Instead, it is on April 20.  The price is still $15/dozen in the choices of Lollipop (assortment of pastels) or traditional red.  The order form is available on the home page.  So, begin taking orders and remember that we will skip our regular meeting on April 20 so that you can deliver your rose. You can pick up your roses at Arctic Glacier Ice in West St. Paul on Tuesday afternoon (Ap. 19) or on Wed. morning (Ap. 20).  Check the Events calendar for the details. Everyone is expected to either sell AT LEAST 22 dozen roses or pay the amount of profit ($7.21/dozen) we would have made if you had sold the required amount.  Sell sell sell!
WSP State of the City Address
Please plan to attend the annual West St. Paul State of the City Address presented by Mayor Dave Meisinger at our regular meeting on March 30.  Members from WSP City Staff and the Dakota County Regional Chamber are invited so be on your best behavior.  It will also be broadcast on the local cable channel.  Just to warn you, sometimes the speech gets a little long, so if you need to leave promptly at 8:30, sit near the door!
Charter Night
Our Charter Night Event is set!  This is an event intended to celebrate our "birthday" which was in 1990.  Everyone is encouraged to attend and bring spouses, families and friends so that we can all get to know each other better.  We are going to see Air Play at the Ordway on Sunday, June 5 at 1:30.  Tickets are only $5, thanks to Mary's family connection to the stars of the show.  In addition, before the show, we will gather for brunch at The Liffey in St. Paul at 11:30. As a bonus, we will have the opportunity for a "meet and greet" with the actors after the show!  This will be a great, fun, and very entertaining day - please see Rayna for details, tickets or if you have any questions.  Details will be found in the events calendar.
