Rufo Romero, coordinator of Loaves & Fishes, sent us these pictures from the April 7th event where we served 211 dinners!

Alan Ruvelson receives his 5th Paul Harris Fellow from Susan Hommes.  A Paul Harris Fellow is awarded to a rotarian for every $1,000 contributed to the Rotary International Foundation.  Congratulations and thank you (don't tell my wife) Alan!  Pictured below are president David Miller, Alan Ruvelson, and Susan Hommes.

 

John Mertens, principal planner for Dakota County, gave us lots of information on the Dakota County bike trail system.  The goal is to have 195 miles of Greenway trails in the county.  80% of today's trails are not on roadways by design.  John showed us numerous of pictures of existing trails, tunnels and bridges.  He also outlined the planned development in the next couple of years.  Here are some sights around the county worth visiting on your bike or hike: Eagan connection to Ft. Snelling, Sunset Park, Lake Marien, Black Dog Lake, Pilot Knob, Lake Bylesby bridge. Apple Valley MN Zoo connection, Vermillion Falls, MN River Swing Bridge, and Kaposia.  Some of the planning goals are to connect the Greenways with other state counties, Dakota County cities, and adding more signage notes with stories.  The trails are for non-motorized bikes and walkers.  The Greenway projects are mainly funded by the Federal Government and the State with some park use taxes thrown in.  Thank you John for your informative presentation!

 

Roses are coming!  Roses are coming!  Pick up your rose order at St. Anne's Church after 3:30p on Tuesday, April 26th!

1.  4th quarter (April to June) dues reduced from $250 to $130 since our costs are lower at St. Anne's.

2.  Bob Gullick reported we have $6700 in cash reserve.

3.  Susan Hommes reported that Rotary Rose sale is underway.  (Editor's note: Please send her your orders!)

4.  Alan Ruvelson reminded us we have Loaves & Fishes on March29th and April 7th and highway clean up on April 16th.

5.  Alan will aid in setting our club goal for the Rotary International Foundation

6.  Approved a $400 purchase of four MATTERBox kits.  Each kit will provide 50 meals to local charities.  We will pack at a future meeting.

7.  Approved Scott Burger's resignation with regret.

8.  Our club will continue to meet at St. Anne's from April to June.

9.  The club is encouraged to think of future fundraising opportunities.
