Jeff Sultzbach, CEO Scout Executive,Northern Star Scouting (NSS), came and talked to us about Scouting of America (formerly Bob Scouts of America) last week. Here's some fun facts about NSS: contains troops and packs; serves counties (26 in MN - 4 in WI); $100M in assets; 100+ staff; $15M operating budget; and 39,000+ youth served with 6000+ volunteers; Jeff highlighted their Many Camp which is on a lake near Ponsford, MN. The camp has activities like jet skiing, biking, team building, sailing, fishing and climbing. In 2018, scouting was opened to girls. Current ratio is 20% girls and 80% boys. Scouting is organized in three group: Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA & Venturing Camping. NSS also has a Base Camp at Fort Snelling which contains rooms for business meetings, lunches, speakers, and more. For more info on the Base Camp check out www.ExploreBaseCamp.org. For more info on NSS, see www.northernstar.org. Thank you Jeff for your informative and interesting talk!
