Last week's speaker was our very own, Rotarian Peter Olson-Skog,  Superintendent of ISD197.  What a wonderful talk about the educational system in ISD197.  Peter gave us lots of information.  Here are some of the highlights.  ISD197 received the US Dept of Energy Green Ribbon award for efficient, healthy, and sustainable schools.  Programming has been expanded for college and career readiness.  A student from Two Rivers is now participating with the WSP City Council.  Revenue sources include increased State funding and the referendum passed earlier this year.  Enrollment is up across sites and grades thanks to open enrollment.  Some grades have closed open enrollment.  Teacher rating is at 98%.  The district is #1 in Reading & Science and #2 in Math, when compared to districts of the same size.  There are 47 athletics, activities, and clubs with 1566 students participating.  The roadmap to success is dedicated staff and community.  Focus areas: helping kids manage emotions via caring relationships (take time to be kind); equitable practices by letting kids be kids; and college & career readiness.  Struggles include inflation, competitive salaries, end of COVID funding, and unfunded mandates.  The good news is that the district is keeping its programming and staff!  Peter is grateful for the community support.  Current enrollment is 5106 students including approximately 400 seniors.  (Whew!)  Thanks Peter for your interesting and informative presentation!

1 - Bob is sending out quarterly bills and reimbursements. (Thanks Bob!)

2 - Loaves & Fishes is scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th. (4:00 to 6:30)

3 - Highway cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, April 27.  Meet at 8:30a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church (High 62 & Delaware).

4 - Prior Lake Music Festival is July 12 & 13.  We have committed 12 volunteer slots with zoom training in the near future.

5 - May 1st Harvest Pack Event at Heartland Credit Union at 4:00p.m. with happy hour at B52 in IGH.

6 - Approved a $500 donation to the Forest Lake Rotary for a global grant to provide clean water in Kenya.

7 - Ben Kusch will represent our club at the Two Rivers Highschool Scholarship event in May. ($2,000 from our club!)

8-  Next board meeting is via zoom on May 21 at 7:30a.m. Notify Dave Hanson if you'd like to attend.

Rotarian Tom Atmore will coordinate our Rose Sale Fundraiser this Fall.  Move information to follow!  Thanks Tom!  You are one of the best!

The board would like to have local businesses present a 3 minute introduction to their company at each meeting.

Please let Dave Hanson know if you have someone and he'll add them to the meeting schedule.

One 3 minute presentation at each meeting would be the goal.
