Last week's meeting was kicked off by Meredith Lawrence who gave us a 3 minute talk about how Mendota Heights is conducting a survey for its 15 year parks planning process. Enthusiastic is an understatement when it comes to our speaker, Greta McLain.  Greta is a muralist and does murals all over the country.   Her process engages the community, looking for potential ideas for their mural.  She has been commissioned to help with the mural which is going up on the outside of Moreland Elementary School.  Greta discovered that Moreland students, parents, teachers, and community wanted to bring the sparkle that was inside to the outside.  Design is complete. There is a painting party this Thursday, April 25th from 5:30p to 7:30p, for anyone who would like to come and paint.  7 coats of Nova paint goes on 5' x 5' canvas sheets which is then attached to the outside of the school.  Funds for the Moreland project came from the students doing community helping events like raking leaves.  The project coordinator from their Parent Teacher Organization is Sarah Blair.  To see more of Greta's international work, check out her website at Goodspacemural.com.  Greta lives in Mexico and fortunately for us, she has her studio in Minneapolis.  Her first mural was a safari scene when she was in 4th grade.  Wonderful presentation Greta!  Pictured below are Meredith, Sarah, Greta and Rotarian Peter Olson-Skog.

Here's some highlights from our February Board meeting held on Dave Hanson's birthday:

1 - Don reported we have $4500 cash to spend.

2 - Loaves & Fishes are scheduled for Thursday, April 4th and Tuesday, April 30th. We are inviting Kae Jae Johnson’s group to help!

3 - Highway cleanup tentatively scheduled for Saturday, April 27

4 - Prior Lake Music Festival is July 12 & 13.  We have committed 12 volunteer slots!  Please let David Miller know if you can attend.

5 - Still working at getting Admin rights to our Facebook page.  Dave will follow up with Meta.

6 - Paul Harris is being awarded to Dave & Leslie Metzen, during the April 10th meeting.

7 - The board accepted Katie Lowe's resignation with regret.  She has volunteered to lead on Ethic's Day event in the future!  Thanks Katie for your past participation of our club.

8-  Next board meeting is to be determined. Notify Dave Hanson if you'd like to attend.

Rotarian Tom Atmore will coordinate our Rose Sale Fundraiser this Fall.  Move information to follow!  Thanks Tom!  You are one of the best!

The board would like to have local businesses present a 3 minute introduction to their company at each meeting.

Please let Dave Hanson know if you have someone and he'll add them to the meeting schedule.

One 3 minute presentation at each meeting would be the goal.
