Internationally, the Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere supports the following initiatives, which reach across borders to address health issues and have the endorsement of Rotary International.

International Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Tiburon-Belvedere has sent several Ambassadorial Scholars to other parts of the world to study. The most recent, Preston McCaskill, spent time in Africa learning about microcredit. He is now a student in the MBA program at UCLA.

Polio Plus

The Global Polio Eradication Initiative is a partnership of Rotary International, The World Health Organization (WHO), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, UNICEF and several governments. The goal is to eradicate polio, which remains in just a handful of countries, worldwide.

Rotaplast

Rotaplast, whose founder is Rotarian Dr. Angelo Capozzi of Tiburon, sends medical missions to Third World countries, where team surgeons repair cleft lips and palates, allowing children to lead normal lives and take their places in society. Dr. Capozzi recently performed surgery on Rotaplast’s 15,000th patient.
