I look forward to presiding over the South Placer Rotary meetings this coming year. Due to many of our members off on vacation this week of July 4th, we will not have a Rotary meeting today. I’m excited to getting back and meeting in person this year. Unfortunately, Whitney Oaks still does not have the staff to support our weekly meetings. I offered to cater our own meals if we could rent the facility, but they were not open to that idea. They are in the process of hiring more staff and hope to have us back soon. In the meantime, I will search for an alternative, or we will have to resort to a few more Zoom meetings until the golf course can accommodate us.  The theme of the year will be "Getting Bach to Basics." We have many new members that have joined our club that have yet to go fishing with the third graders or experience the enthusiastic 8th graders as they tour the Aerospace Museum and listen to an inspirational speaker, or to receive the gratitude and appreciation of a needy family as they receive a Christmas basket full of food certificates and gifts. These are some of the privileges that COVID 19 took away for us and our community. It is time to bring them back! I’m proud to have all of you join me as we bring back old traditions and hopefully create new ones.
