Greeter this week: Frank Yakimchuk
Welcome to this week’s E-club Rotary Meeting. We have received tremendous news:Current RI President, Ron Burton and his wife Jetta will be in Alberta and in particular in my City of Red Deer for May 2nd and in Calgary on May 3rd, 2014!
It is a great honour to be in the presence of a RI President. Last year I was lucky enough, along with my wife Tammy, to meet then RI President Tanaka in person at the Million Dollar Dinner held in Sherwood Park, Alberta.
If you are in, either Red Deer or Calgary for May 2nd or May 3rd, register the formal Dinner featuring RI President Burton, he has a talent for "Public Speaking" and his message will surely be an inspiration to one and all. More information will be available soon.
Please enjoy this week’s Program and feel free to make a nominal donation to our Club.
Inspirational Moment

Brief history of Canada
World Greatest Meal Update
Rotarians in many locations in the world met on Feb 23 to experience comradery, share a meal and raise funds to End Polio.
This united effort was the concept of PDG Malhotra of London, UK,  and Susanne Rea of Cairns.
Rotary E-club of Canada Foundation Chair, Ross and his wife Darlene organized such an event in Edmonton.
A number of Rotarians including fellow member Jim Fergusan attended the event, others simply forwarded their respects along with a donation.
Polio has now been eliminated from India. Three countries to go:  Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria.
The purpose of this event was to:
    •    offer fellowship opportunity for members
    •    increase awareness of e-club amongst the District
    •    increase awareness of Rotary amongst the public
    •    increase awareness of polio eradication by Rotary amongst the pubic
    •    celebrate our Charter and the anniversary of Rotary
    •    engage some members of the District (other clubs were represented including Ross Tyson) in our e-club activity.

Those who attended enjoyed the experience and stated: “We must do this again”.
Thank you Ross and Darlene for organizing this event in Edmonton..

A Little Humor

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his wife, who was looking at herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what she'd like to have for her birthday.

"I'd like to be six again", she replied, still looking in the mirror .

On the morning of her Birthday, he arose early, made her a nice big bowl of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. What a day! He put her on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the ScreamingRoller Coaster, everything there was.

Five hours later they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald's where he ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake.

Then it was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's. What a fabulous adventure!

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed exhausted.

He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked, 'Well Dear, what was it like being six again?'

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed.

"I meant my dress size!"

Rotary E-Fellowship
Reviving the old Rotary tradition of the Round Table (where everyone talks and no one listens!) Yellowknife E-Clubbers sat down for coffee on Feb 22. Our "Cluster," which recently doubled its numbers from one to two (with addition of Rtn Biswanath Chakrabarty) earned the prospect of its numbers doubling again ... with past Rtns Jeff Corradetti and Joe Pintarics pledging their interest to join. As a bonus, Biswanath brought his daughter Rashmani in on the meeting from Edmonton, and we have the prospect of a new E-Club member in Edmonton!
Nothing beats a face-to-face meeting ... host one in your town ... and send me a message to have your update included in this section of the weekly e-meeting.

The first four Rotarians
On 23 February 1905, Paul P. Harris, Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, and Hiram E. Shorey gathered in Loehr’s office for what would become known as the first Rotary club meeting. Harris’ desire for camaraderie among business associates brought together these four men and eventually led to an international organization of service and fellowship
