Did you now, that ClubRunner started as a D7080 project by software developer and Internet Chair Adel Asterbadi. He used his knowledge to adapt it to the way Rotary clubs work.
In 2003, with the assistance of his daughters Sarah and Halle, Adel submitted this project to Microsoft for a contest and came in at  #1.

Computer technology has always been of interest to me. At 18 I was a Data Entry Clerk. Later I studied Computer Programming and graphic design. During my term as D5370 Membership Chair, I was very interested in the CR application, introduced to me by Hans Granholm, who taught me a lot. I would meet Halle and Sarah at Zone and RI events, asking more questions, making more suggestions.
Sarah and Halle acknowledged that our District was the leader in Canada for this multi-language application, today, with more than 5000 customers, in over 30 countries.
When launching our new E-Club website, we had specific needs; one call to CR and the changes were made.
At the RI Convention I spent some time talking to Sarah and her staff, wanting to learn more about new features.
You can see the result on our updated website, and more is coming soon.
I encourage each Rotarian to make an effort to learn the many features of Clubrunner; Links to the various tutorials are available on our website.

Comments from our Guests and Members
Members and guest attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you send us your comments please?

Canadiana - Maureen Wilton breaking the women's marathon record in 1967 at the age of 13 when women did not run marathons.  I had not heard of the Underwater Forest and was fascinated to learn of it through the video.  What history the earth has to share and what understanding we can glean for the future of our planet!
Jo Hildebrandt, RC of Kitimat, BC, D-5040

A new way to look at managing people.  Very interesting.
Cheri Goldstone, RC of St. Albert, Alberta, D-5370

Givers vs Takers - Takers look good at first, but Givers provide better results long term.
Joesph "Jody" Braverman, Iowa City Noon Rotary, D-6000

I'm a lover of history. I appreciated seeing someone excited about the incredible stories that made our county what it is. I agree that the narrative applied to American history often makes it's portrayal of the gold rush a very romanticized adventure with a negative twist on the Canadian Mounties. I value the speakers perspective of Canadians, even at that time being accepting of others and willing to help, It really reinforces my belief that Canadian's always have taken pride in looking out for the well being of others/accepting people for who and what they are. Even though I consider myself a history buff, I learned a lot about the history of Dawson and Canada's role in the gold rush that makes me very proud to be a citizen of a nation with a long standing reputation for working toward the greater good.
Lindsey McNeil, Grande Prairie Rotary Sunrise, Alberta, D-5370

Rotary's People of Action
Where others see problems, Rotary members see solutions. Our 1.2 million members see opportunities and possibilities in their communities around the world. Here are some of the stories of our People of Action.
Rotarian Olivier Vriesendorp of Holland has his dream to climb the seven highest mountains in the world recently completed. By reaching the summit of Mt Everest, he crowned his efforts.
As a token of his appreciation for the efforts of the Rotary Foundation, which for 100 years trying to give space to people and encourage them to reach their peak, he unfolded in the wind flag of 100 years of Rotary Foundation.
Olivier hopes that the satisfaction he experienced in reaching the summit together with his team, a metaphor may be the efforts Rotarians are making in "Doing Good in the World"
