Rotary Connections - they continue to surprise me!
Last year, David Werrett of our club introduced me to Graham, a Rotarian from Nanaimo, who was in Guatemala at the time on a Rotary project. Graham returned to Guatemala a few months later with 2 other Rotarian and they proceeded to complete a long list of maintenance and installation jobs for our charitable organization. Not too many more months passed and I heard from one of those Rotarians that two young leaders from his community, Hope and Sara, wanted to come to volunteer with us.

These two energetic and joyful young ladies poured love and encouragement into the students sponsored in our organization by helping them advance with their studies and improving their english skills.

News from the Rotary Family
Escuela Buena Esperanza (Good Hope School) Bocas del Toro, Panama is very grateful for the supplies that the Rotary e Club Canada One Peace Initiative recently donated.
The school of 3 rooms is in a village of about 200 people. There are no roads, electricity or Internet.
The kids love to sing and they proudly sang the Panamanian National Anthem for us.
Lots of smiling faces. Read More

Comments from our Guests and Members
Members and guest attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you send us your comments please?
"Remembrance Day"
I have to say I didn't enjoy it - it was very sad, emotional and graphic.  Hard to listen to the veterans talk about how they had to leave the fellow soldiers injured and push on without helping them.  But, I thoroughly enjoyed the little girl talking to the British Veteran regarding her fundraising efforts.
Wendy Giuffre, RC of Calgary South, D-5360
Enjoyed reading the story from our Honourary member Anna Soper about her experiences in South Sudan.  She is very brave to work in such an environment.
David Werrett, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370
Always enjoy the format of the e-Club meetings. It offers an opportunity to broaden one's perspective on Rotary and life in general. The Brad Jenkins' program was no exception and reminded me of the importance of reaching out to others in unique ways.
Don Smith, RC of Bracebridge, D-7010
Enjoyed reflecting on the messages of this meeting (Sudan, Foundation month and Theo Wilson's experiment with trolls) after getting stronger internet signals off the Amazon.
Jean-Michel Crepin, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

World Polio Day 2017 - A global Celebration
Rotary clubs registered more than 3,400 World Polio Day events in 102 countries at

That's twice as many events as last year!
In South Glamorgan, Wales, the Rotary Club of Cardiff Bay posted electronic advertisements at a busy intersection to tell the community about World Polio Day.
At a hospital in Nakorn Pathom, Thailand, the Rotary Club of Pra Pathom Chedi helped vaccinate children and raised funds for polio eradication.
And several Canadian e-clubs participated in March Across Canada, where every hour they transferred leadership of the event to an e-club in the next time zone, moving across all five Canadian time zones. Together, the clubs raised more than CA$17,000.

Your attendance could earn you Paul Harris Points
The Rotary E-club of Canada One is excited to announce that all of our attending guests who make a donation to our club in lieu of a meal, fines or happy bucks, will have the opportunity to have their name entered in a quarterly draw in support of the Rotary Foundation.

A Little Humour
A man rushed into the doctor's office and shouted,
"Doctor! I think I'm shrinking!"
The doctor calmly responded,
"Now, settle down. You'll just have to be a little patient."
