Greeter this week: Doug Dyer

Saint Vincent Island
Johanne and I have just celebrated our first full year of being total nomadic -homeless by choice. It has been the most profound and enjoyable year. We have spent extensive time in Nicaragua, Mexico, Costa Rica and even a side trip to Cuba. Currently we are enjoying the island of Saint Vincent in the Grenadines and will be in the Caribbean for 6 months. Coming up we have Panama and a return to Mexico on our calendar.
Being homeless by choice means that together we own less than 200 lbs. of worldly belongings.  We travel with just two packs and a couple of carry ons.  Certainly, this is not a lifestyle for everyone, however it is extremely liberating and we feel like we can travel where ever we wish. We have developed a very rich network of fellow nomads of all walks of life.

Having simplified our lives has freed up so much time and energy we are now able to enjoy every moment of the day. Our stresses are truly insignificant and we have renewed health and happiness.
I am very excited to announce that my first book is in its final editing and it will be published very soon. I hope it to be an inspiration for others that are hoping to bring change in their lives no matter how big or small.
I always love to hear from my fellow Rotarians, please drop me a line.

The food for thought about happiness found in being grateful for what we have is really a key to joyful content life.
WE welcome Undine as both a new German Canadian and new E-Club member. What a lovely smile in her photo. I enjoyed an introductory chat with her this week as well. It is good to plan a good time to chat and meet our members outside of Rotary meetings.

Absolutely fascinating program! But before I get to that, I really also enjoyed the Rotary Minute and getting the perspective on Rotary from a younger generation.  Now back to the program - just watching the exhilaration of patients being able to walk again is awesome.  Amazing what is being done. I especially appreciated the section regarding dancing ... having two left feet I'm wondering if there may be hope for me yet!

Wow, has bionics come a long ways!  There seems to be no end to what can be accomplished.  The Ted Talk: New Bionics let us run, dance and climb by Hugh Herr is such an up lifting program.  It paves the future for many disabilities to be a thing of the past.

"After 10 years working with the forgotten in El Salvador, I put a slide show together of close up poverty but not poverty in spirit.
I returned to Canada and found this in so many places. Canada is peaceful, has resources, space, fresh water, possibilities for schooling, possibilities for work, grocery stores filled with many food selections for us to buy, even giveaways.
This video, words, and music remind me of those so materially poor but so grateful for what they have whom I met during the 11 years I lived in El Salvador.
It reminds me how fortunate we are in Canada.
If we look closely here we shall see needs of both kinds."
