Greeter this week: Anne Skirving
As a member  of the Rotary E-Club of Canada One, I welcome you to this meeting  and  I am so happy you have joined us. My name is Anne Skirving and as Secretary of this club  I see our members’ attendances  and, as well,  make ups each week from our visitors. I live in Ontario and in the last week or so have had visitor make ups from several Ontario Rotarians.
Each week our program chair works hard to prepare a meeting for us and always welcomes input from our members and our guests. Thanks Elly for your hard work.
As a Rotarian who is retired, has the freedom to travel,  and has a cottage to enjoy in the summer, joining the E-Club has allowed me to remain part of Rotary from many different  locations.
Whether you are a member or a visitor please enjoy this week’s meeting and be sure to come back.

Rotary Minute

A Rotary Moment written by Jim Overman Emergency Response, Security, Incident Management Consulting, Self Employed.

I often have the honour of helping dedicate plaques honouring WWII veterans at the National Museum of the Pacific War (Fredericksburg, TX). Recently, we were dedicating a plaque for a 91 year old vet. As I was talking to him I realized that he was a Rotarian. He had served as a DG twice, was a past club president, had been to two RI conventions and served at a COL (Council of Legislation). After he retired from his "job", he began spending time taking care of "elderly" people that couldn't care for themselves. He was anxious to get home because he was needed by one of his "clients".
As I contemplated what I would say during the presentation, I thought of "Service Above Self". This man left his home and family to offer his life for his country. For many, that would be enough service for a lifetime. Instead, this member of the Greatest Generation became a Rotarian and in his 91st year still places service above self. This has caused me to reflect on my own commitment to service and the true meaning of heroism. I hope my experience will help me become a better Rotarian and that I never forget my obligation to serve. I hope this story inspires others to do likewise.

Food for Thought
People go through their whole lives chasing everything in the material world, and they fail to discover the greatest treasure of all, which is within them. Shut your eyes to the outside world. Direct your thoughts and words to the inside of you. The Master within you is the key to all the treasures in the world.
