ImageGreeter this weekShirley Klyne
Hello, my name is Shirley Klyne.  I am a recent member of the Rotary E=club of Western Canada and about to assume the role as club secretary.
Rotary became a big part of my life in 2008 when I joined the Lac La Biche club.  A recent change in my work requirements made it difficult to attend our regular noon meetings. I am so very grateful to be able to become a part of the e-club, attend meetings, and enjoy the online fellowship and continue my service through Rotary around that schedule.  I want to extend a big Rotary welcome to everyone as you join us this week for the meeting.  Please encourage others to come visit us,  whether it is for a makeup meeting or with the consideration of becoming a member.  Enjoy the meeting.

Opening Remarks

ImageIt just dawned on me, that summer is slowly (or actually quicker than I’d like) coming to an end.
So enjoy as much as you can. It’s kind of nice, not having to break up your day and drive to a Rotary meeting, while you could be out hiking or sitting on the deck with a cold drink. Our Rotary meeting can be when the sun is down or before it is even up.
Welcome Rotarians and guests.
I am happy to announce, that four new members have been accepted into our club. Welcome Shirley, Kelly, Rianne and Sue.
The official e-induction ceremony will take place on Monday, September 3, at 8:00 pm MDT. Via GoToMeeting. Mark your calendar.
Shirley jumped right in and accepted the position of Club Secretary. Thank you Shirley. We look forward to working with you and we look forward seeing our other new members involved as well, at whatever capacity they are comfortable with.
Now, if you haven’t already done so, pull up a comfortable chair and enjoy the meeting. You will be surprised by the ease you are now able to report your attendance.

A Little Humor

Girls night out
Two women friends had gone out for a Girls Night Out, and had been decidedly over-enthusiastic on the cocktails. Incredibly drunk and walking home they suddenly realized they both needed to pee. They were very near a graveyard and one of them suggested they do their business behind a headstone. The first woman had nothing to wipe with so she took off her panties, used them and threw them away. Her friend however was wearing an expensive underwear set and didn't want to ruin hers, but was lucky enough to salvage a large ribbon from a wreath that was on a grave and proceeded to wipe herself with it. After finishing, they made their way home.

The next day the first woman's husband phones the other husband and said, "I am putting a stop to these Girls Nights . My wife came home last night without her panties." "That's nothing," said the other. "Mine came back with a sympathy card stuck between the cheeks of her butt that said, “From all of the guys at the Fire Station, We'll never forget you!”

Food for Thought

“Friendship…the craving for which brought Rotary into existence is the thing that will keep Rotary a living, vital force in the world for all time, the very foundation of our organization.”
— Address to 1920 Rotary Convention, Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA

Speaker Program
There has been a lot of talk lately about the health of our planet. Everyone is going green, or are they?

Being a citizen is about acting on our responsibility to stand up for the planet and other people. There are many things we can do; one of them being related to bottled water.
Nearly 90% of plastic water bottles are not recycled, instead taking thousands of years to decompose. Buy a reusable container and fill it with tap water, a great choice for the environment, your wallet, and possibly your health.
