Greetings and welcome to the Rotary E-Club of Western Canada’s weekly meeting!

E-clubs are a great alternative to face-to-face clubs as they allow for tremendous flexibility in terms of how one gets involved in Rotary. So, for example, our Club is in District 5370, but this fall I will be coordinating District 5360’s RYPEN (Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment) Camp for my 14th year. If your Rotary District has a RYPEN program and you haven’t been involved in it yet, I HIGHLY recommend it! RYPEN is a program that teaches leadership and teamwork skills with an emphasis on experiential learning and fun! We have countless testimonials from students over the years that RYPEN has changed their lives...And if you do get involved, it will change yours!

Enjoy the meeting!

Inspirational Moment
As Rotarians, we are generally blessed with lives of relative luxury, and opportunities unknown to many.
Let us review our checkbooks, and, indeed, the registers of our lives with honesty as we consider our priorities, and our opportunity to help others. Open our hearts, and our accounts, to those in need, while still being provided with appropriate fruits of our own labors. Let us share not only our tangible wealth, but also our intangible riches of knowledge, leadership, and creativity to make our city, our nation, and our world, a better place filled with the peace and love that is brought through us.

Please stand for the National Anthem
With which this meeting is officially opened.

A Little Humor
Alzheimer or HIV
Phone rings. The lady of the house, Mrs Sanders, answers.
“Mrs Sanders - this is Dr Jones from St Agnes Laboratory. When your husband’s doctor sent his biopsy to the lab last week, a biopsy from another Mr Sanders arrived as well… We are now uncertain which one belongs to your husband. Frankly, either way the results are not too good”.
“What do you mean?” Mrs Sanders asks nervously.
“Well, one of the specimens tested positive to Alzheimer’s and the other one tested positive for HIV. We can’t tell which is which”.
“That’s dreadful! Can you do the test again?” asked Mrs Sanders.
“Normally we can, but Medicare will only pay for these expensive tests once”
“Well, what am I supposed to do?”
“The Medicare Help Desk recommended that you drop your husband off somewhere in the middle of town. If he finds his way home, don’t sleep with him”.

Food for Thought
There are only two things to worry about, either you are healthy or you are sick. If you are healthy, then there is nothing to worry about. But if you are sick there are two things to worry about, either you will get better or you will die. If you get well, then there is nothing to worry about. But if you die, there are only two things to worry about, either you will go to heaven or to hell. If you go to heaven, then there is nothing to worry about. And if you go to hell, you’ll be so darn busy shaking hands with your friends you won’t have time to worry.

Speaker Program
(Introduction by Bruce Kleeberger)
ImageStephen Covey, a motivational speaker famous for his "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" recently passed away at the age of 79. His message, applicable to personal life, business and young people is highly inspirational but speaks to levels of integrity Rotarians will recognize from the 4 way test. This man deserves to be honoured. We want to remember him as the thought leader he was.
