ImageGreeter this week: Monty Audenart
Hi everyone and welcome to your weekly e-club meeting. What a great honor to be the greeter. Thanks for joining and belonging.
Just a few months ago I was in Korea to kick off their Regional Membership Action Plan. You can imagine my surprise when one immediate past district governor was honored for having his district induct 1,300 new members in a single Rotary year. The current Governor remarked that he would never be able to reach that achievement but then he smiled and promised to bring in 1000 new members. The two most recent e-clubs in Korea have 206 and 160 members respectively. So the best in growing your club.
I am pleased to tell you that after two years of membership decline in Rotary international we seemed to have turned the corner with a net gain last year. We can celebrate the success of it all together, and with your support we can move Rotary forward in North America. We have a new Regional Action plan for North America that we hope you will support as you learn more about it.  We want to attract people to Rotary for the benefits that come to them through belonging- friends and relationships at home and abroad, an opportunity to build community and share our skills, learning and practicing leadership and so much more.
Wherever you have logged in from, I wish you the best and thank you for what you are doing for Rotary. Indeed the greatness of Rotary is due to the thousands upon thousands of Rotarians who love and live Rotary.

Opening Remarks

ImageGood morning, after noon or evening Rotarians and friends of Rotary Today is a perfect day for Rotary. Last Monday, was one of the highlights of our club. We had the honour of having DG Kevin Hilgers inducting 3 new Provisional Members.
All the board members were on line. The sponsors introduced the new members; DG Kevin presented an inspiring, welcoming induction speech, the new members responded and immediately offered to take on a role on the board.
We could see all those who spoke, as if we were all in the same room.
We only could not touch and extend the hand of friendship as one sponsor DG Al Bergsma put it. Congratulations to Herky, Eric and Shirley. We are so happy to have you on board. You will all be of great value to our club.
Thank you to all who have attended our meeting this past week, and for your contributions to this meeting.

We’re excited about our first International Project. Alliance for Smiles. You will read more about it once Eric our Project Chair has had a chance to discuss with the team.
We may have to introduce a “frequent flyer” program, as we seem to see the same guests return tour meeting for a make up on a weekly basis. The rewards you ask? Membership into our club.
This week’s meeting is very special so please read on and enjoy. And please submit your attendance. It’s the only way we know that you were here.

Elly Contreras, Chair

Comments from our Guests
I enjoyed seeing the success of the provisional club on line....the whole experience is excellent. From the greeter ....to the anthem....to the great Youth Exchange video. You make a great mentor club for our newly forming e-club in 6330. Thank you”. PDG Tanya Wolf.

I love the setup where it is an "actual" meeting format versus just a bunch of articles to read as I find it more interesting. Loved the anthem and the weekly humour”. Jennifer Biggs – Abbotsford/Sumas 5050

Loved the format for the meeting and how easy it is to go through and convenient when you can't physically attend another club meeting to acquire a makeup. Great for travelers” Edith Martin - Edmonton Northeast, D5370

I so enjoy this format. You add a lot of interesting content and I really enjoyed your new alphabet! Very clever. I look at my grandson and wonder what it's going to be like for to go to school in about 5 years! What a difference from when I went to school.
The topic of success is very interesting as I have recently (in the last 3 years) established my new business, breaking away from the corporate world. Am I successful? Wow It all depends on the measures and when I measure joy happiness freedom, and being in service, I consider myself successful. Great to hear young people speaking positively about success!”

ROTARY Minute
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
Each summer thousands of young people are selected to attend Rotary sponsored leadership camps or seminars in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, France, Argentina, Korea and numerous other countries. In an informal atmosphere, groups of outstanding young men and/ or women spend a week in a challenging program of leadership training, discussions, inspirational addresses and social activities designed to enhance personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship. The official name of this activity is the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program (RYLA), although these events are sometimes referred to by other names, such as Camp Royal, Camp Enterprise, Youth Leaders Seminars, Youth Conferences or other terms.
The RYLA program began in Australia in 1959, when young people throughout the state of Queensland were selected to meet with Princess Alexandra, the young cousin of Queen Elizabeth II. The Rotarians of Brisbane, who hosted the participants, were impressed with the quality of the young leaders. It was decided to bring youth leaders together each year for a week of social, cultural and educational activities. The RYLA program gradually grew throughout all the Rotary districts of Australia and New Zealand. In 1971, the RI Board of Directors adopted RYLA as an official program of Rotary International.

Food for Thought
Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probably reason why so few people engage in it.
