Let’s hear from our Guests and Members
Each week we receive comments from guests and members, who attend our e-meetings. We like to share some of these comments with you.

“I love seeing youth involved in international projects, like in today's speaker series. Not only does it show them that they can make a difference in the world, it builds bridges between cultures. Somthing Rotary does an exemplary job of.”
Andrew Oswald, Prospective Member e-club Canada One

“I loved clicking through the various links she referred to, and her story about helping the children of Mexico while she vacations there”.
Cathy Mombourquette, RC Windsor-Roseland – D6400

“I liked the 'kindness' TED talk- very uplifting. Great to see Interact at work too.”

India Celebrates 3 Years of Freedom from Polio
As we know on January 13th, India completed 3 years without a Polio case. The day was celebrated by Rotary as a major milestone towards a Polio Free India.
The Government of India is now celebrating Rotary’s success of Polio Eradication in New Delhi on February 11th. Instead of the original February 23rd Rotary celebration some of us have been invited to a major event planned at the Talkatora Stadium with the President, Prime Minister and Minister of Health for India. The theme: “A Proud India Celebrates Three Years of Freedom from Polio”.
Rotary is involved in helping with the program and will have 500 VIP invitations to share. Those who wish to participate should contact Rotary’s Polio Chair Deepak Kapur to find out availability.

RHINO or RINO
Have you ever been chased by a rhinoceros?
Even in such an unlikely possibility, it's not a race you would likely have won.  An adult rhino can weigh up to 5000 pounds, and can run as fast as 30 or 40 miles per hour.  The last thing you would want aimed at you is his pointed 18-inch horn, with all that weight and speed behind it.  It's an example, however, of the rhino's capability, once he is motivated to attack.

Rotarians in many clubs use a similar word but with slightly different spelling.  The term RINO is the acronym for Rotarian In Name Only, someone whose name is on the club roll but whose attendance and participation are minimal.  Many clubs have challenged their members with the rhetorical question,  "Are you a member of Rotary [a RINO], or are you a Rotarian [a rhino]?"   Almost every club has some RINOS.
Fortunately, many clubs have members who come for more than just a peek around the door, the meal, or a chat with their friends, and are truly involved in the work of Rotary. READ MORE HERE

Food for Thought
Today is the oldest you've ever been, yet the youngest you'll ever be; So enjoy this day while it lasts.

Speaker Program
It is a pleasure to introduce you to the Rotary International President Elect Gary Huang.
Gary Huang, a Taipei businessman, will be the 104th president of Rotary International, our global humanitarian service organization of 1.2 million women and men in 34,000 clubs in 200 countries and areas.

Huang, a member of the Rotary Club of Taipei, will begin his one-year term on 1 July 2014 as the first Taiwanese to hold Rotary's highest office. (On that same day, our own Doug Dyer will take over the reigns from President Bruce).
President Elect Huang says a top priority is to grow the organization's membership base by attracting quality men and women committed to improving communities worldwide through volunteer service.
He especially wants to expand Rotary's membership outreach in Asia. "To increase our membership, we must go beyond borders to wherever we see growth potential, such as the countries of China, Mongolia, and Vietnam," said Huang, chairman of Taiwan Sogo Shinkong Security Co., Ltd., Shin Kong Real Estate Service Co., and P.S. Insurance Agency. " I will put an emphasis on increasing the numbers of female and younger members."

You are invited to listed to Gary Huang's Theme Speech for 2014-15
