The Polio Plus campaign has been the main international initiative in Rotary International since 1988 and we are very close to reaching our goal of global eradication.  As Rotarians, we are all urged to support the Foundation so that we might see an end to this disease in our lifetime, but being involved hand-on is also a way we can provide support.

Rotarians from District 5370 traveled to India to be part of the National Immunization day declared in India.  Marilyn Mucha, a Rotarian for 13 years and currently with the RC of Edmonton Whyte Ave. traveled with Mary Drader from the Rotary Club of Drayton Valley, to New Delhi to administer the polio drops in the suburb Ghaziabad. The local Rotarians also arranged for special visits to their polio related projects such as St. Steven’s hospital for surgeries for victims of polio as well as a clinic that supplies braces to help victims to walk. The most compelling day was the day after the booth immunization and the visit to the slums where living conditions were deplorable.
