Greeters this week:

Ramiro and Elly Contreras

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of presenting our very first E-club banner to the Rotary Club of Manzanillo, Mexico.

From left to right Elene, Member, Ramiro, guest; Wally, member from Manitoba; Elly; Nancy and Dave Nystrom, members. Gord Lewis, guest and newly inducted member of the e-club.

This is a small club with an enormous spirit and some exceptional projects; One of these projects, is Casa Hojar Los Angelitos, supporting a group of over 50 disadvantaged children, who thanks to the dedication and hard work of Nancy Nystrom and her husband Dave and the staff of Casa Hogar are being given an opportunity for a better life in this orphanage.

ImageChildren who would otherwise end up on the street, exposed to child prostitution, and drug related crime, now have an opportunity to a life with a future; In some cases even a university degree.

We toured the orphanage and were very impressed with the well structured and professional support these children receive, thanks to the help of Rotary clubs in the US and Canada and individual sponsors for some of the children.

Several of these children have been invited to a folkloric dance group, and will be touring the US and Canada this summer and fall. We saw the group perform and were at awe of their beauty, talent and professionalism.

We invite you to watch this video clip below and visit the site of Casa Hogar Log Angelitos,  (The Children Foundation)

Inspirational Moment

Vitamin F

ImageWhy do I have a variety of friends who are all so different in character?
How can I get along with them all?
I think that each one helps to bring out a "different" part of me.
With one of them I am polite. With another, I joke.
I sit down and talk about serious matters with one and with another I laugh a lot.
I listen to one friend's problems. Then I listen to another one's advice for me.
My friends are like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. When completed, they form a treasure box. A treasure of friends! They are my friends who understand me better than I understand myself. They're friends who support me through good days and bad.

Doctors tell us that friends are good for our health and consider the benefits of friends as essential to our well being.
Research shows that people in strong social circles have less risk of depression and terminal strokes.
If you enjoy Vitamin F constantly you can be up to 30 years younger than your real age.
The warmth of friendship stops stress and even in your most intense moments, it decreases the chance of a cardiac arrest or stroke by 50%.

We should value our friends and keep in touch with them, try to see the funny side of things and laugh together.
May you be one of the fortunate people who have a good supply of Vitamin F!

Let’s hear from our Guests and Members
Each week we receive comments from guests and members, who attend our e-meetings. We like to share some of these comments with you.

”I learned something about myself. Subconsciously I apply the 4 Way Test throughout everyday life. It is a much simpler way to live.
I will share this with nieces and nephews who often feel overwhelmed with constantly having to make moral decisions.”
Gail Williams, RC Calgary West – D5360

“This meeting was jam packed of very useful information----The Four Way Test, How to use Twitter, Smartphone and Medicine. The Inspirational moment...We can all make a difference in this!”
Judi Jones, RC Weyburn-D5550

“Your meetings just keep getting better and better. Of all of the Rotary E-Clubs I have attended, in the short time you have been up and running, you are by far the best! Keep up the good work.”
Robert Boyden, RC Canmore – D5360

“Is the impossible possible? It is only possible if we all come together. We have 1.2M members globally working towards a common cause and we can make the impossible real. Who would have thought that Polio could be eradicated? Who would have thought that people from 120 plus countries around the world would unify behind one message of selfishness? I think Rotary is an example of what was being preached in this Ted talk”.
JP Kamel, Charter Member
