Greeter this week: John Pierre Kamel
Hello Fellow Rotarians!  My name is John-Pierre (JP) Kamel and I consider myself very lucky to be a Rotary e-Club of Canada One member!

My job takes me on the road for many weeks of the year and as a result I have never been able to commit to joining a traditional rotary club.  Unlike most of my fellow e-Clubers, this is the first Rotary club I have belonged to. In fact, I was an e-club Rotarian for a full 6 months before I attended my first in-person “Terra” club meeting.

Why do I love being an e-club member?  I am currently sitting on a boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean and thanks to the e-club I am able to attend my home club’s meeting!
I have included a photo of myself, on the boat, attending my e-Club meeting with one of my daughters by my side.

As a new Rotarian I have a lot to learn…..I look forward to continuing this Rotary voyage with all of you!
I wish you all a very happy new year.
JP

Light Up Rotary with President Gary Huang
The “Little Club that Could” pulled it off. The Webinar on January 5th was a huge success attended from 12 different countries with well over 100 registrants, of which several attended as a group, increasing this number.
Three of our members, residing in Manzanillo, Mexico, arranged for a meeting space and invited 15 additional guests, for Rotary Fellowship and learning more about our e-club. A total of $200.00 was raised for Polio at this event alone.
Paypal, Polio designated donations from registrants totally $198.00 and Non designated donations $327.00. With a grand total of $725.00.

Congratulations poured in from many places.
District 5370 Governor Linda Robertson wrote:
"Congratulations to our District 5370 E-Club for their meeting with RI President Gary C.K. Huang. Rotarian Paul Falvo from Yellowknife was even in the President's office in Evanston to present a plaque. Lots of guests from around the world, lots of information - great job everyone!" Linda

Jeff Pardee who joined in with 3 Rotarians from the Ft.McMurray Oilssands Club and 7 from the Ft.McMurray club wrote:
"On behalf of the Rotary Clubs of Fort McMurray; Oilsands Rotary and Fort McMurray Rotary, we would like to thank you for inviting us to attend the “Light Up Rotary with Rotary President Gary Huang”.

It was a most informative meeting and we enjoyed the talk from RI President Huang. It was most impressive to have a Rotary gathering with representation from both ends of the globe. We understand members were connected from the North of the Planet in Tuktoyaktuk to the South in Argentina and many places in between.

We enjoyed the online event and look forward to future events with the Canada One E-Club. A special thanks to Club President Dyer and his team for coordinating this event.

If you are fortunate to be in the Fort McMurray area, especially in the Winter, we welcome you to attend our meetings; Oilsands club Tuesday 7am at the Sawridge, Fort McMurray club noon at the Stonebridge.
Best Regards to our Rotary Friends."

Our very own Paul Falvo and his young daughter had the privilege to attend in person at the Presidential Office and presented President Gary with an Honorary Membership. President Gary and his spouse also received a variety of Canadian gifts.

A huge Thank You to all who made this possible, but most of all to President Doug for having the vision.

On January 9, 2015, CBC started a national challenge called The Play Exchange. Six different groups of Canadians have six cool ideas to help get our country active and healthy. The groups are competing for up to one millions dollars, and your votes decide the winner. In this clip, Wab Kinew (host of Canada Reads 2015) explains the idea he's backing - the Walk To Tuk challenge.
