Greeter this week: Elly Contreras

While spending our winter in Manzanillo, Mexico, we are coordinating a small volunteer group with Snowbirds and Expats.
This group will not have dues, no Board, no lengthy meetings; Just fellowship, Fun and Volunteer work. Sort of like a Gratis Rotary Club. But the members do contribute their time, resources and sometimes money. Some of these are Rotarians and possible prospective members.
We get together for lunch once a month and share ideas of volunteer activities.
So far we have agreed to collect Plastic bottle caps, to be recycled, sold and the funds used for Children with cancer.
We collect aluminum cans and the tabs, which are used by indigenous women who make beautiful handbags.
We are talking about assisting vacationing shoppers at the Grocery store, helping them find the Sour Cream or other items that may not be identifiable in the Spanish Language.
Other activities may include:
- Beach Clean up
- Seniors Home Painting
- Drug Rehab Thrift Shop
- MESE House, teaching English
- Neuter and Spay Clinic
- Free Library

There's always something to do in our communities, whether in the name or Rotary or not.

"The Girl Who Silenced the World"
I couldn't help but think, where is she now and what has she done with her life, but  more importantly what has the World done to meet her challenges?

Robert Boyden, RC of Canmore, Alberta, D-5360

While Mexico is celebrating Benito Juaris' birthday in the form of Brass band on the beach in front of our condo right at midnight for pete's sake. I am now wide awake and thought I might as well attend my Rotary meeting. Pondering on what category I belong on the social spectrum as discussed by our speaker this week.

"This was sent to me from two District Governors. 90
seconds into the song the singer uses his rare skill of male and female voices beautifully. He won "Philippines got Talent"

We all are encouraged to use our talents no matter how unique. Truly inspirational."
