Greeter This Week: Frank Yakimchuk
In 2002 while President of the Rotary Club of Halifax, my Executive send me to Toronto to take part in a Membership Conference headed by the RI President, Richard King from the USA. Richard King was a Lawyer, he had being in the Military as an Intelligence Officer. He was a great communication, displayed a presence and was entertaining.

President King was tasked to retain Rotarians and to also increase RI numbers. He suggested that we "look and work outside the box", he said start "cocktail" Rotary Club that would meet during the late afternoon over a drink and finger food. I really liked this direction, he said look at the morning breakfast meeting.

We as E Rotary Club Members have taken the path "less traveled" and so perhaps credit should go to those who think "outside the box". Please stay for our weekly program, maybe drop a few dollars in the pot so that our Rotary work can run smoothly.

Comments from our Guests and Members

I enjoyed the program, delivered in a very entertaining way.  Many truths and lessons to be taken away from her message.  I enjoyed the variety of information, including the Rotary Jukebox - great idea, thank you!

The thoughtful inspirational greeting by PDG Al was most appreciated.

I will share the specific body poses/body language exercises to express confidence and calm powerful presence. I enjoyed hearing both the science and the stories of this practice.

ROTARY MOTTOES
The first motto of Rotary International, "He Profits Most Who Serves Best," was approved at the second Rotary Convention, held in Portland, Oregon, in August 1911. The phrase was first stated by a Chicago Rotarian, Art Sheldon, who made a speech in 1910 which included the remark, "He profits most who serves his fellows best." At about the same time, Ben Collins, president of the Rotary Club of Minneapolis, Minnesota, commented that the proper way to organize a Rotary club was through the principle his club had adopted-"Service, Not Self." These two slogans, slightly modified, were formally approved to be the official mottoes of Rotary at the 1950 Convention in Detroit-"He Profits Most Who Serves Best" and "Service Above Self." The 1989 Council on Legislation established "Service Above Self" as the principal motto of Rotary, since it best explains the philosophy of unselfish volunteer service.
