Greeter this week: Vincent Daly

Hello and welcome to this week's E-Club meeting!
My name is Vince Daly and I recently joined the Rotary E-Club of Canada One, a few years after having been a member of a 'terra' club in Leduc, Alberta.
The attached photo with my daughter was taken by my wife this summer at Rogers Centre....hopefully the Jays are still playing as you read this!
Leduc Rec Centre Boys and Girls Club room. Kelowna Rotary Beach Park. Polio eradication and the response to two cases in Nigeria. Shelterbox aid following the quake in Italy.
Above are just a few of the many examples around us of the generous work done by Rotarians on a local and global basis. Examples that I couldn't help but take notice of recently and motivating me to again be active in Rotary.
Inspirations that, when it may be a challenge to find the time or the individual views may be divergent, will keep one focused on the bigger picture and continuing working towards the common good of Rotary. All examples of what can be accomplished when one truly realizes 'service above self'.
It feels great to 'be back', and I hope that you enjoy this week's meeting!

Comments from our Guests and Members
Members and guest attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you send us your comments please?

I think every school should have a gardening program and grow their own food for their lunch programs even if it means heating a greenhouse. Can you think of a more important life skill to learn?
Gord Lewis, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

Ernesto shares his deep insights into sustainable economic development, and how entrepreneurs can be truly supported to live their passions.
Sam Theocharis, RC of Festival City, Stratford, D-6330

I watched the Aurora Borealis activity many times while being out on veterinary calls in the dark evenings and nights of Alberta. One of the most fascinating natural phenomenons I have ever experienced.
Peter Denooy, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370

I really enjoyed the videos chasing the sun in the Navajo nation and The less you own the more you have.  They were both inspirational.  Some good takeaways from owning less.
Gordon Stefaniuk, RC of Lloydminster, D-5370

I had the honour of working with Ernesto Sirolli on a board for referrals set up under an Economic Facilitator program sponsored by Ontario Cooperatives. He is indeed a man of new thought, entertaining and points out above all that the  Priority ideas must come from the people  and all we can do is serve them in helping them learn a little but find support for them locally.
We can never know the solution that will work in a community not our own.
But we can offer friendship and confidentiality to those entrepreneurs who would come to us for advice or help. Not all of us are entrepreneurs for sure, but they begin new economies...

Lynne Ternosky, Rotary E-Club of Canada One, D-5370
