Greeter this week: Delwen Stander
(L-R: Ramiro Contreras, Elly Contreras, Veronica Stander, Delwen Stander)
A Comfortable Old Sweater
We all have one.  You know, the one that may no longer be in style, may be a little worn, and may not have kept a vibrant colour, but you love it, it fits you so well, and it always brings back memories of good times.
And, dear readers, doesn't this remind you of Rotary, and particularly fellowship with your Rotary friends?
For us, as e-club members, we don't see each other each week, and sometimes not even each month, but when we do - on a Thursday morning video chat over coffee, or a monthly fellowship meeting online, or at a "pod" gathering in person - it's as though we were never apart.  We share so many common experiences and values as Rotarians, that this becomes a link of intimacy, so that we simply fit with each other in a most comfortable, reassuring, and pleasurable way. (And, I would argue, the same holds true, to an extent, when one meets fellow Rotarians anywhere, at make-ups and gatherings around the world.)
When the "Osoyoos mini-Pod" (Elly Contreras, and husband Romero, who live there, and me and wife Veronica, who have a vacation place there) met for dinner on October 26, there was no need for introduction or ice-breaking - we simply picked up where we last left off from our last get together as friends. We slipped on that comfortable old sweater of Rotary fellowship, and thoroughly enjoyed a fun evening of chatting about service projects, travel, and, of course, wine.
Rotary is a powerful force for good in this world, and it is the fellowship between the Rotarians within it which drives it every day.

Comments from our Guests and Members
Members and guest attending our weekly meetings are very important to us. Based on your comments we are able to produce many more educational, inspiring and entertaining weekly meetings.
Following are some of the comments we have received. Would you send us your comments please?

I am fairly familiar with the role of Rotary in Polio eradication, but have never actually researched the intricacies of the disease itself and how it attacks the nervous system, so the video was very informative.  I like your e-club page format better than others I have visited.  It is straight forward and easy to navigate.

X-Ray Audio: The Documentary
Fascinating documentary where creative entrepreneurs in Russia overcame gov't restrictions so they had access to western music that they'd recorded on x-ray film. Unbelievably wonderful how people overcome adversity to have joy from music.

Velma Noble, RCCHP, Calgary, Alberta, D-5370

Attended the weekly meeting from Cambodia.
Danie Hardie, RC of Edmonton South, D-5370

I did the meeting and watched the fascinating program on music cut on x-rays. This was a testament to the ingenuity of man, and his power to find a way to be free, despite all of the forces of coersion and oppression.
